14th anniversary of the Fleet Center (formerly Boston Garden

The last game of the Boston Garden was played in September 0f 1995. It had been built in 1928 by Ted Rickard, the builder of Madison Square Garden. In fact the original name was The Boston Madison Square Garden. It was originally built to host boxing matches for the most part and then became home to the Boston Celtics and Boston Bruins. It was actually smaller than the official size of a NHL Hockey Rink, but was grandfathered in because these regulations hadnot been officiated at the time it bagan hosting hockey games.
